Good morning, my friend.
Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
The Bible tells us to guard our heart because what gets into our heart eventually finds its way into our life.
What you continually think about matters. What you continually listen to matters. Who you allow to influence you matters. The attitudes you hold onto matter.
Because sooner or later, what is happening on the inside begins showing up on the outside.
If you fill your heart with bitterness, bitterness will eventually come out. If you fill your heart with fear, fear will begin influencing your decisions. But when you fill your heart with God’s Word, prayer, gratitude, truth, and the things of God, those things begin shaping the way you live.
That is why we need to be careful about what we allow to take up residence in our hearts.
You may not be able to control everything that happens around you today, but you can be intentional about what you allow to happen within you.
So before you head out into this day, ask God to search your heart. Ask Him to remove anything that doesn’t belong there and fill you with His truth, His peace, and His presence.
Guard your heart, my friend.
Because when your heart is right with God, it changes the way you see everything else.
