Don’t Let Comparison Steal Your Joy!

Don’t Let Comparison Steal Your Joy

Good evening, my friend.

I saw a saying today that made me smile: “Don’t let your ice cream melt while you are counting someone else’s sprinkles.”

There’s a little wisdom in that. It’s easy to spend so much time looking at what somebody else has that we stop noticing the blessings God has placed right in front of us.

We compare their progress with our struggles, their opportunities with our limitations, and their highlight reel with our ordinary day. Before long, comparison has stolen our peace and made us overlook the goodness of God.

Galatians 6:4 says, “Let every man prove his own work.” God has given each of us a life to live, a path to walk, and people to love. So tonight, thank Him for what He has entrusted to you. Celebrate the good in someone else’s life, and keep being faithful with your own.

My friend, don’t miss the sweetness of today because you’re counting somebody else’s sprinkles. Enjoy the blessings God has given you, and press on.

Before You Ask God to Change Everything, Pray This!

Good morning, my friend.

Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

Have you ever cleaned the house, washed the car, and put everything back in its place, but still felt like something inside you needed attention?

We can look fine on the outside and carry a whole lot of clutter on the inside. Hurt we haven’t surrendered. Sin we haven’t confessed. An attitude we’ve been making excuses for.

David knew that feeling. He had sinned, and he needed God’s forgiveness. So he prayed, “Create in me a clean heart.”

Friend, that’s a prayer we need, too.

“Lord, help me quit pointing at everybody else long enough to let You work on me. Forgive what’s wrong. Clean out what I’ve allowed to settle in my heart.”

And then David prayed, “Renew a right spirit within me.”

Sometimes we keep doing the right things, but somewhere along the way, our spirit gets sour. We serve, but we complain. We show up, but our joy has slipped away.

Today, bring all of that to God. You don’t have to hide it. He already knows, and His mercy invites you to come.

Before you ask Him to change your circumstances, take a moment to pray, “Lord, start right here in me.”

A clean heart. A right spirit. What a good way to begin the day.
