“Direction is so much more important than speed!”

We live in a world that celebrates speed. Everybody seems to be rushing somewhere. We want answers quickly, doors to open immediately, and dreams to happen overnight. And when we see somebody else moving faster than we are, it’s easy to wonder if we’re falling behind.

But remember this: Moving fast doesn’t help much if you’re headed in the wrong direction.

Isaiah 30:21 says, “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

I love that picture.

God is not nearly as concerned about how quickly you arrive as He is about whether you are walking the road He has chosen for you.

Sometimes God may slow you down. Sometimes He may redirect you. Sometimes He may close a door you were certain you needed to walk through. What feels like a setback today may actually be God protecting you from going somewhere you were never supposed to go.

So as this day comes to a close, stop worrying about somebody else’s pace.

You don’t have to outrun anybody.

You don’t have to have everything figured out tonight.

Just keep listening for God’s voice and taking the next step He puts before you.

Speed determines how quickly you get somewhere. Direction determines where you end up.

So stay steady, my friend.

Make sure you’re walking with God, and trust Him with how long the journey takes.

The goal isn’t to get there fast. The goal is to get where God is leading you.

“The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” -Proverbs 11:25 (KJV)

Friend, one of the beautiful truths of the Christian life is that God never intended for His blessings to stop with us. He blesses us so that we can become a blessing to somebody else.

Proverbs 11:25 gives us a wonderful picture. When you water somebody else’s life, God has a way of making sure your own life gets watered too.

And generosity isn’t always about money.

Sometimes generosity is giving somebody your time. It is making that phone call, offering an encouraging word, praying with somebody who is struggling, sharing a meal, lending a helping hand, or simply being present when somebody needs a friend.

We often think, “I don’t have enough to give.” But God isn’t asking you to give what you don’t have. He is asking you to be faithful with what He has already placed in your hands.

A little kindness can go a long way.

A little encouragement can change somebody’s day.

A little generosity, placed in the hands of God, can make an eternal difference.

And here is the wonderful part: while you are busy refreshing others, God knows exactly how to refresh you.

So today, look around. Somebody in your path needs what God has placed within you.

Be generous. Be kind. Be an encourager.

Because when you spend your life pouring into others, you will discover that God has a way of keeping your own cup full.
