You’ll Never Be Good Enough, But That’s the Point!

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” -Romans 3:23-24

There are two truths in these verses that meet every one of us right where we are.

First, the reality.

“For all have sinned…”

That means nobody is left out. Not the best of us, not the worst of us. We have all missed the mark. You may compare yourself to someone else and feel like you’re doing alright, but God does not grade on a curve. His standard is His glory, and every one of us has fallen short.

Now that sounds like bad news—and it is—but it is also the doorway to something wonderful.

Because the second truth is not about what we have done…

It is about what God has done.

“Being justified freely by his grace…”

Freely. That means you cannot earn it. You cannot work your way into it. You cannot clean yourself up enough to deserve it. Salvation is not a reward for the righteous. It is a gift for the guilty.

And here is the beauty of it—God does not just forgive you and leave you where you are. He justifies you. That means He declares you righteous, not because of your record, but because of Jesus’ record.

Through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

That word “redemption” carries the idea of a price being paid. Jesus stepped in, took your place, paid your debt, and made a way for you to stand clean before a holy God.

So today, stop trying to measure up.

You never will.

But you do not have to.

Because where sin says “you fall short,”

grace says “you are made right.”

And when you come to Jesus by faith, you will find that what you could never earn…

He has already provided.
