Watch Out!

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)

There are moments in life when we can become careless in our walk with God. Not careless on purpose, just distracted. Busy schedules, responsibilities, worries, and pressures can slowly pull our attention away from what matters most.

That is why Peter gives us this loving warning: Be sober. Be vigilant.

In other words, stay alert. Stay spiritually awake. Stay aware.

We have a real enemy who would love nothing more than to discourage you, distract you, or convince you that your efforts don’t matter. The enemy does not always attack with obvious danger. Sometimes he whispers lies like:

“You’re not making a difference.”

“You’re too tired to keep going.”

“No one really notices.”

But God’s Word reminds us that awareness is protection.

When you stay close to Christ, stay grounded in Scripture, and stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit, you are not walking alone, you are walking protected.

A roaring lion may sound intimidating, but remember this: a lion that roars often reveals its location. God has not left you unaware or unprotected. He has given you truth, strength, and wisdom so you can stand firm.

Stay watchful.

Stay prayerful.

Stay anchored in God’s Word.

You are not helpless, you are helped by the Lord.

And the closer you walk with Jesus, the stronger and steadier your heart becomes.

Stay alert… but do not live afraid.

Because the One who walks with you is far greater than anything that walks against you
