Before You Make Another Decision, Ask God This!

Some of the biggest mistakes we make in life happen when we are absolutely convinced we know what we are doing.

We can be intelligent, experienced, confident, and completely wrong.

That is why the most important question is not, “What do I think?”

It is, “What does God say?”

Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

My friend, real wisdom begins when we recognize who God is and give Him His rightful place in our lives.

To fear the Lord does not mean that we spend our lives terrified of God. It means we reverence Him. We respect Him. We trust His wisdom above our own.

It is being humble enough to say, “God, You know more than I know. You see what I cannot see. So instead of asking You to bless what I have already decided, I want You to show me what You want me to do.”

We live in a world filled with information, but information alone will not guide your life.

You need wisdom.

Wisdom for your family.

Wisdom for your relationships.

Wisdom for your decisions.

Wisdom for those moments when you simply do not know what to do next.

And Proverbs tells us where to start.

Start with God.

Before you make the decision, talk to God.

Before you follow your feelings, open His Word.

Before you listen to every other voice, listen for His.

And if you are facing something today that you cannot figure out, do not be discouraged.

You do not have to know everything when you know the One who does.

Put God first. Trust His Word. Follow His direction.

He already sees around the corner you cannot see around.

So take the next step with confidence, my friend.

God knows where you are. God knows where you are going. And when you let Him lead, you can trust Him to get you where you need to be.

Full Hands, Empty Soul: What Really Matters?

Here is something worth thinking about: You can gain everything this world offers and still miss what matters most.

Life is strange. We arrive with nothing, spend our lives chasing everything, and when our journey ends, we leave it all behind.

Jesus asked in Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

There is nothing wrong with working hard, providing for your family, or enjoying God’s blessings. But we must be careful that while our hands are becoming full, our souls are not becoming empty.

Possessions can make life more comfortable, but they cannot give life meaning. Money can buy a house, but it cannot build a home. Success may earn applause, but it cannot provide peace. Only Jesus can satisfy the deepest longing of the soul.

So slow down today. Spend time with God. Treasure His Word. Love your family. Encourage someone. Forgive quickly. Give generously. Live for something greater than yourself.

When your life is over, what you held in your hands will belong to someone else. But what God has done in your heart will last forever.

My friend, do not merely make a living. Make your life count. Make sure your soul gains more than your hands.

Stop Trying So Hard—Stay Connected to Jesus!

You can tell a lot about a tree by the fruit hanging from its branches. And my friend, people can tell a lot about what is happening in our hearts by the fruit hanging from our lives.

Galatians 5:22–23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Have you ever noticed that Paul calls it the “fruit” of the Spirit, not the “work” of the Spirit?

Fruit doesn’t appear because a tree struggles harder.

Fruit grows because the tree is connected to the right source.

And that is important for us to remember.

Sometimes we try so hard to make ourselves more loving, more patient, more peaceful, and more self-controlled. We grit our teeth and promise ourselves, “Tomorrow I’m going to do better.”

But God never intended for us to manufacture the Christian life in our own strength.

He wants us to walk with Him.

The closer you walk with Jesus, the more His character begins to show up in your life.

You start loving people you once found difficult to love.

You discover joy even when everything isn’t going your way.

You find peace in situations that used to keep you awake at night.

You become a little more patient, a little more gentle, and a little slower to react.

Not because you suddenly became perfect, but because the Holy Spirit is producing something in you that you could never produce by yourself.

An apple tree doesn’t need a sign hanging on it saying, “I’m an apple tree.”

The fruit tells the story.

And eventually, the fruit of our lives should tell people Who we belong to.

So today, don’t get discouraged because you’re not where you want to be yet.

Stay connected to Jesus.

Keep walking in the Spirit.

Keep letting God work on your heart.

You may not see all the growth happening beneath the surface, but if you stay connected to the Source, the fruit will come.

God isn’t finished with you yet.

He’s still working.

He’s still growing.

And He’s still producing something beautiful in your life.

So keep walking with Jesus, my friend.
