What Feels Like a Setback May Be God’s Setup!

“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.” -Proverbs 19:21 (KJV)

Friend, every one of us has made plans that didn’t turn out the way we expected. We’ve mapped out our future, set goals, and imagined how life would unfold. Then suddenly, a door closed, a circumstance changed, or a disappointment redirected our path.

In those moments, it’s easy to wonder if everything is falling apart.

But Proverbs 19:21 reminds us of a comforting truth: “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.”

You may have your plans, but God has His purpose. And His purpose is always greater than our plans.

Sometimes God says “no” because He has something better. Sometimes He says “wait” because the timing isn’t right. And sometimes He changes our direction because He can see what we cannot.

Looking back over your life, you’ll probably discover that some of God’s greatest blessings came wrapped in what first looked like disappointments. The door that closed protected you. The delay prepared you. The detour led you exactly where you needed to be.

So if today isn’t unfolding the way you hoped, don’t lose heart. Trust the One who sees the end from the beginning. His wisdom never fails, His timing is always perfect, and His plans for His children are always good.

Today, surrender your plans to the Lord and walk forward in faith. You may not understand every step, but you can trust the One who is directing them. God’s plan is greater than anything you could ever imagine.
