“And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” -Genesis 2:3 (KJV)
Friend, one of the greatest gifts God ever gave us is the gift of rest.
In the very beginning of creation, God worked for six days. He spoke, and the universe came into existence. He formed the heavens, the earth, and every living thing. But on the seventh day, God rested.
Now understand this: God did not rest because He was tired. The Creator of the universe never runs out of strength. He rested to give us an example. He was teaching us that life was never meant to be lived running nonstop.
Sometimes we wear exhaustion like a badge of honor. We stay busy, we keep pushing, and we convince ourselves that slowing down means we are falling behind. But God reminds us that rest is not a weakness. Rest is wisdom.
The same God who created us knows how we function best. Our bodies need renewal. Our minds need quiet. Our hearts need time in His presence.
A day of rest is not just about stopping work. It is about remembering who is truly in control. It is a reminder that the world keeps turning even when we slow down because God is holding everything together.
You do not have to carry everything today. You do not have to solve everything today. Take time to breathe, worship, reflect, and remember the goodness of God.
The God who calls you to serve also invites you to rest.
So today, receive the gift He has given. Slow down long enough to hear His voice, enjoy His blessings, and remember this simple truth:
Rest is not wasted time when it draws your heart closer to the One who created you.
