What Are You Really Hungry For?

Have you ever noticed that the things we hunger for often determine the direction of our lives?

Jesus said, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

Physical hunger reminds us that our bodies need food. Spiritual hunger reminds us that our souls need God. The problem is not that people are hungry. The problem is that many are searching for satisfaction in all the wrong places.

Some try success, possessions, popularity, pleasure, or achievement, only to discover that none of those things can truly satisfy the deepest needs of the heart. There is a longing inside every person that only God can fill.

Jesus promises that those who hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled. He is speaking about a passionate desire to know God, walk with God, and live according to His will. When we seek Him, He never leaves us empty. He fills us with His presence, His peace, His strength, and His purpose.

Maybe today you feel spiritually dry or weary. Perhaps you know there must be more to your relationship with God than what you are currently experiencing. That hunger may be God’s invitation to draw closer to Him.

Do not ignore that desire. Open His Word. Spend time in prayer. Seek His presence. The more you pursue Him, the more you will discover that He is exactly what your heart has been searching for all along.

The world offers temporary satisfaction, but Jesus offers lasting fulfillment. Hunger for Him today, and He promises that you will be filled.
