“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” -Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
Friend, we live in a world that constantly tells us to chase more. More money. More success. More recognition. More possessions. Yet Jesus lovingly reminds us that the greatest pursuit in life is not things, but Him.
Notice He says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.” First means first. Before our worries, before our ambitions, before our plans for tomorrow, God desires to have first place in our hearts.
I have discovered something through the years. When God is first, everything else finds its proper place. It does not mean life becomes trouble free. It does not mean every prayer is answered the way we expect. But it does mean we can walk through life with peace, confidence, and assurance that our Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need.
Jesus spoke these words to people who worried about food, clothing, and tomorrow. Sounds a lot like us sometimes, doesn’t it? Yet His message remains the same: Stop putting your faith in what you can hold and place your trust in the One who holds you.
If your heart feels pulled in a dozen different directions today, slow down and ask yourself this simple question: What am I seeking first?
Because when you put God first, you never lose. His peace becomes your peace. His strength becomes your strength. And His faithfulness will carry you through every season of life.
So today, seek Him first, trust Him completely, and leave tomorrow in His hands. He has never failed you yet, and He is not about to start now.
