Excuses! We make them so easy and if we are not careful we will find ourselves making them every day all throughout the day! They come in all shapes and sizes and from every direction you can imagine! Excuses do not have to be a bad thing! The problem with an excuse is not the excuse, but getting stuck in it!
If you want to turn an excuse into a good thing, then learn to use the excuse as motivation for moving forward! The circumstances of life are what they are and you have what you’ve got, but you are not stuck with it! Even with a “truck load” of bad circumstances, you still have the opportunity to make the choice of how you are going to respond!
Think about this: The things that hold some people back or the very same things that push other people forward! The difference is not the circumstances, but the people and their responses!
You don’t have to stop making excuses, but you do need to stop getting stuck in them! Listen to your excuses and decide what you can do about them and do it!
But I’m outta peanut butter!!!!
Want me to run to the store and get you some?
No thank you. I just thought that was as good of an excuse as the ones others come up with. You know what silly excuses people can make up.
I just figure if I bring you a jar of peanut butter, then you have to make me cookies of something, but I can’t have them right now! And yes I do know about those silly excuses!
You are so disciplined. I need to be like you!!!!
Not really disciplined – have not been doing so good on the ole diet – got to get back after it!
It’s a hard thing to do but you sure are doing good. You look great. And may I say again, MJ, you are such a special and amazing person. I am so thankful that you are my pastor and my friend. I appreciate everything you do for Northwood. I am so proud to be a part of such a great church. God has blessed me so much and I love him so much. Thank you for being YOU!!!!! G-3 all the time!!
Thanks! I’ve still got a ways to go, but I am going to get there! I am glad that I get to be your pastor and friend! And I am thankful for all that you do to be a blessing through the ministry of Northwood! It’s people like you that encourage me to keep on keeping on when the keeping on gets tough! God has blessed us by allowing us to be a part of a great church and He has even more amazing things in store! I am so looking forward to it! G3! right back at you!
Good thoughts this AM.
Thanks – I have often allowed excuses to become stumbling blocks, instead of stepping stones!
Then there are the excuses that are legit. For example, not being of Kryptonian descent is a perfectly fine excuse for not leaping a tall building in any number of bounds.
You mean you can’t leap a tall building? Joe, I know a lot of people are going to be disappointed to hear that! I am sure you are faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locamotive???
