Love Is The Goal!

Love is a small little word with a big meaning. It’s one of those little words that gets thrown around and used in a lot of different ways. Someone may say that they love this or that person and then turn around and say they love pepperoni pizza. And while I hear what they are saying and can toally relate, the love for a person and the love for a food item are surely on totally different levels???

The Greeks solved this problem by having different words for different kinds of love. Agape was a Godly love, the kind that a Creator would have for His creation. Phila is a brotherly love and where Philadelphia the city of brotherly love gets its name from. This is a love shared between friends. Storge is a familial love or an affection that is shared among family. Eros is a sensual love, where we get our word erotic from and is represnetative of affecction shared for a lover.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” -1 John 4:16

We were created in Agape Love, for Agape love, so that we might learn to love with that same kind of love. Agape is the highest and most pure form of love. This love is the life we were created for. When I live without this kind of love, I am lost. When I think without this kind of love, I am confused. When I love without this kind of love, I am wasting time. As God has loved me, I want to love others, so I will open my heart, mind and spirit to God’s love, so that it might flow to me and through me to others.

How To Overcome Your Identitiy Crises…

We are in this world, but not of this world. This is a very important fact to remember as we are living our lives and seeking to grow into all we were created for. Our failure to recognize that we are a part of Divinity, that we were created by and in the image of God, often causes us to miss out on utilizing the supernatural power that we have at our disposal and therefore live with struggles that should be our strengths.

We are eternal, spiritual beings with a soul. We were created in eternity and for eternity, a thought that we cannot even begin to wrap our little earthly thinking minds around. This world that we live in is temporal, it will not last forever. In fact, if you look around, you can see that it is sick and dying. We often become affected and infected with the same disease, but it does not have to be that way, because we are not of this world.

“Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.” -1 Peter 2:11

Our failure to understand and tap into our Divine heritage often causes us to get lost in confusion and misunderstanding, which leads to a life of aimless wandering from one frustration to another. We were created for so much more and so we need to know who we are, what we were created for and where we come from.

You are God’s creation. You were created to be blessed so you could bless and give glory to the One who created you. You come from the heart and mind of the Almighty. Let this knowledge inspire and motivate you to live the higher life you were created for and you will be amazed at how things begin to line up and change in your favor…

Mercy – The Gift Of Not Getting What You Deserve!

Someone said: Grace is getting what we don’t deserve and mercy is not getting what we do deserve!” And I think that sums it up pretty well. We talk a lot about grace and most of us seem to be pretty good at sharing it, at least with people that we like?!?

Mercy is often a little bit more of a challenge. I don’t think it’s because we don’t need it or because we have not receieved it. I think it’s probably because we don’t want to admit to ourselves or others that we need it, but we do need it and in a more desperate way than we might imagine.

The fact that we are sitting here, reading these words is a testimony to the reality that God gives us mercy, because everyone of us should have been taken off of the board a long time ago, but God, Who is rich in mercy, loves us and had seen fit to forgive us and give us space and grace to grow into what He knows we can be.

If we will be honest with ourselves, we can look back on our lives and see time after time where we have made mistakes, missed the mark, not measured up, just flat blown it, but God is loving, patient, kind, gracious and merciful. Look back – can you see it? It’s beautiful, when you actually take the time to look back and aprreciate it.

“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” -Matthew 18:21-22

Now if God shows us mercy for our mistakes/sins/failures and allows us to begin again, then we should do the very same thing for one another. God’s gifts of love, grace, mercy, forgiveness and restoration are woven into the tapesty of the Universe for all of us to receive and share.

Be sure to take all of the good things that God has given you and share them with others and one of the greatest ways to do that is by not giving people the wrath, judgment and condemnation we think they might deserve, but instead the gifts of love, grace and mercy. Now that is a beautiful gift that keeps on giving…
