Like What You See?

Do you like what you see? Take a good, honest look at your life and the answer might surprise you, because it may be that you do like what you see and you didn’t think you were going to, or it may be that you do not like what you see and you thought you were going to love it. Most likely you will find yourself some where in between, with some things you love, some things you hate and some things some where in between.

I have found that the great majority of us, just sorta tend to tolerate life. We have moments we love and moments we hate, but most of us end up living the majority of our lives in the “blahs”, stuck somewhere in between love and hate. On some level, we know we were created for more, but we are just too tired to even try to think our way through it.

Every now and then though, something comes along and moves us out of our comfort zone to the place that we can’t help but take a moment or two to imagine what our life might look life if we were really living it the way we sometimes catch ourselves dreaming. We think about the person we could be, should be and would be, if???

Have you ever caught a glimpse of yourself, when you had it all together? Have you ever seen the “put together” you, full of energy, great ideas and experiencing the miraculous in all directions? When we see it, we believe it and for just a moment want it, but then life wakes us up and we go right back to thinking about what might have been?

Could I suggest a different way to look at life? Could I maybe point out another possibility of how we can possibly see things? Rather than thinking about would’ve, could’ve and should’ve – how about we see ourselves as God our Creator sees us?

In Ephesians 1:3-4 it says: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.”

God sees us from beginning to end and from end to beginning! God sees the total picture of all that we’ve been through, survived and grown from. If you are still living, then you are still a work in progress, so don’t you dare give up and don’t for one moment entertain the thought of giving in, because God has great big amazing plans for you! See it, believe it, live it – you’ll be glad you did!

Perfection!

You are a blessed child of God! Stop and let the truth of that truth sink in for just a moment. We spend so much of the energy of our lives trying to prove ourselves, when we really have nothing to prove. We buy into the definition of success provided by the world, allow our egos to start calling the shots and before we know it, we find ourselves riding a runaway roller coaster to nowhere.

We convince ourselves that some how our being incomplete points to some kind of deficiency or lack on our part and there surely must be something wrong with us that needs fixing. We read books, take medicine, chase after goals and do any and everything we can think of to try and make up for what we have been convinced is missing.

We very quickly lose site of the reality that we are children of God and because we are God’s children we lack nothing. We lack nothing, because it is all His and through His love, we have access to it all. You are a complete, whole and blessed spiritual being, made in the image of the One who created you and empowered with His supernatural power.

“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” -James 1:2-4

You do not need to be made perfect, you are perfect. You just need to learn to live in the perfection you were created in and for. You cannot add to God’s perfection, and any attempt to do so, is to take away, taint and diminish the purity of God’s radiant love. So stop trying to be something you are not, accept your life as it is with all it’s challenges and grow through them into the complete perfection you were created for. When you do this your life will give glory to God and enable you to experience and share His blessings…

The Fine Line Between Arrogance And Humility!

Arrogance is such an ugly word and it is an even uglier attitude. I am ashamed to say that I have allowed this word to become my reality far too many times in my life and living. It is one of those things that can creep up on you before you even realize it’s there. Arrogance puts you in a place of looking down on others even when you are beneath them. It is a very unrealistic view of self and others that causes us to elevate self and lower others.

Most would say that the opposite of arrogance is humility, but we have to be careful with that one, because it is way too easy to have a humility that is fake, counterfeit and not real, which is an even greater form of arrogance.

Philippians 2:3-4 “3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”

The reality is that we are all the creation of God and God has given each of us our own unique gifts, talents and blessings. God’s love, grace and power flow into each of our lives and as we learn to live in humility, it flows through our lives to others and brings us a fulfillment like nothing else can.

We have to be very careful not to become arrogant and think of ourselves, better, smarter or more valuable than others. We also have to be careful not to get caught up in a fake humility that does not take into account the value that God in us, places on each one of us. Either extreme is dangerous and keeps us from experiencing the miraculous power we were created in and for.

Take some time today to think about who you are in God as you think about God in you. Also take time to recognize who others are in God and honor God in them. There is a fine line between humility and arrogance and on that line we discover purpose, power and peace…
