The Positivity Of Negativity!

Negative Emotions -Everyone of us have them and many of us have no clue what to do about them. I grew up, believing negative emotions were bad and to be avoided at all cost, so I spent most of my life trying to not have them, only to realize that I was fighing a losing battle. So I did the next best thing I could think of and that was to pretend they did not exist, which was really a great big mistake, because then they kick your behind and leave you laying on the side of the road for dead.

It has taken me many years, but I have finally started to learn that the best things to acknowledge them, own them and most importantly – to learn from them. Negative emotions are feelings that usually generate an attitude of being sad or mad and can cause you to not want to be around others, act out in detremental ways or retreat and isolate yourself from life. If left unchecked, negative emotions can lead to being miserable, depressed and even dangerous, but if acknowledged and ultimatley owned, they can become some of our greatest teachers, leading us to discover incredible things about our life and it’s living.

I will not take the time to go into all the ugly details here, but there have been several times in my life, when the negative emotions started to get the best of me. I have “felt” that list up above in the picture and been weighted down to the place that I thought I was going to drown under the weight of it. In fact, there have been times when I felt I was ready to give up and sink to my no more.

As I look back on all those terrible, horrible and ugly times, the interesting thing is that no matter how dark my lremedy have gotten, there was always a light. It may have been a very small speck at the end of the tunnel, but it has always been there. At times shining bright as a beacon for others and at others times, just a little speck, a gentle reminder that even though I may feel like it, I am not alone.

God created me and gave me my life, but this human experience is not all that there is. Wayne Dyer says that we spend our lives as human beings looking to have a spiritual experience, when in reality we are spiritual beings getting to have a human experience.

If you were just paying attention, then I revealed the secret to learning from and overcoming your negative emotions, rather than having your negative emotions overcome you. Did you catch it? Let me just tell you – PERSPECTIVE MATTERS! How you look at things and how you see things matter and if you are looking as a human being, then you are defeated, but if you are looking as a spiritual being, then the negative emotions that are allowed to come into your life, must have some higher purpose???

This is why the Scriptures teach us: “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” -2 Timothy 1:7 As spirtual beings God has given us power, love and self-control. Individually all of these are magnificent and powerful gifts, but collectively they allow us to live, grow and develop on a whole new level.

Sometimes God doesn’t change your situation because He is trying to change your heart. This is why God allows the negative to flow into our life, because we have the power to learn from it and change it into something much more powerful, enabling us to experience the things only experienced by the divine. We can live the lower levels of humanity and be controlled by the negative emotions of life or we can live at the higher levels of the spirit and discover unlimited and supernatural power to do the miraculous – your choice???

Get Honest And Get Free!

At first thought, I would love to tell you I am a perfect person. A person that always thinks good thoughts and always does the right thing. A person who has no enemies, commits no sins and gets it right, no matter the situation or circumstance. At first thought, I think this is what I would love to be able to tell you, but then after I think about it for a few minutes, I realize that would not be me at all.

While it is very true that I am not my mistakes, sins and failures, the reality is, they are a part of me, the part of me that is human. They are the part of my human experience, which is teaching me that I am a spiritual being getting to have a human experience. And while I am not proud of these things, the Spirit has taught me that God has used and is using all of these things to help shape me into who and what He created me to be. It is all part of His process!

The world we live in is a beautiful, mystical and amazing place, but it also a hard, ugly and mean place at the same time. It is in this place that there is a continual battle that wages, a battle we get caught up in and often distracted by.

Oh, we like to pretend that it doesn’t exist and we tend to ignore the obvious, but that does not change the reality that all of us are sinners that miss the mark, and we really do need to own that. A big part of accepting what God has done for us through Jesus is admitting the truth that we are sinners who miss the mark and don’t measure up.

“For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you. please.” -Galatians 5:17

Part of our saying that we BELIEVE is acknowledging our sinfulness, accepting it’s consequences and admitting that in our on limited human strength and power, we can do nothing to save ourselves and live the life we were created for. We don’t need to dwell on this part of our life and living, but we do need to be honest and real about it, because that is a vital part of our being able to allow Spirit to do His work in and through us.

Yes, we have messed up and we will mess up, but God loves us and has a plan to use it all for His glory and our blessing as we trust in Him. So own your stuff, admit and learn from your sins, mistakes and failures. Learn to yield to the SPIRIT and you will overcome the desires of the flesh that attempt to pull you off track and out of the will of God’s blessing.

It’s not easy, but it is possible and it’s the relationship you were created for…

Double Vision!

The eye has always been a very amazing part of the body to me. Sometimes I will just stare into the reflection of my eyes in the mirror and be totally amazed at how they function to allow me to see things, distinguish shades and experience colors. With my physical eyes, I am able to take so much of the world around me into myself and my life is so much richer for the experience.

“Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.” -I Corinthians 2:6-9

I have lived life long enough to realize that I do not just see with my physical eyes, but I am also equipped with spiritual eyes that let me see deeper within, to an even greater truth than the mind can imagine. a truth which points me to the real purpose of existence as a spiritual being getting to have a human experience.

Our eyes give us vision and our vision gives us perception and our perception opens up the option to dance with wisdom and gain understanding. As we learn to look beyond what we can see with our physical eyes, our spiritual eyes reveal a truth that is truer than true. That incredible truth is that we were created by love, in love and for love.

This love allows us to see things, know things, feel things and experience things that cannot be explained. And this experience becomes one of our greatest teachers. Showing us the real way of life everlasting and abundant that can not necessarily be explained, but most certainly can be experienced.
