Fight The Mind Battle!

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”  Romans 12:1

I Ain't Got Time For This!
I Ain’t Got Time For This!

We know what we should do, but doing it is often the real challenge.  We know what we should not do, but keeping ourselves from doing it is the really hard thing to do.  I have noticed that most of the battles that take place in my physical life, take place in my mind before they manifest themselves in reality.

Learning to fight and win the battle in the mind, will save us a lot of heartache, time and trouble in the long run.  What we give to God, God can take and use in amazing ways to move us to a place of blessing and fulfillment.  The beautiful thing is that this allows us to give to God glory, which He is due and it allows God to give us blessing, which allows us to give Him even greater glory.

Take some time today to think about the battles you are fighting in your mind.  Fight those battles and win – you will be glad you did!

Getting Your Heart Right!

“Create in me a clean heart, O God.  And renew a right spirit within me.”  Psalm 51:10

Get Your Heart Right!
Get Your Heart Right!

Our heart is the center of who we are.  Our creator placed a heart inside each one of us to give us physical life and a center for our spiritual being.  Without a heart, life would not be possible.

All of the sacred literature teaches that we are to guard our heart because it is the very source of life, both physical and spiritual.  With our heart we determine our actions and with our actions we make a life.  The living of our life reflects what is inside of our hearts and it does not tell a lie.

This is why we must continually ask our Creator to renew our spirit and create a clean heart within us.  Take a moment today to think about your heart.  What is going on inside of it?  It is where it needs to be?  Do you need your Creator to help clean your heart and renew your spirit?

He will, if you will simply ask Him and then yield to His work in and through you.  With your Creator at the center of your heart, you are sure to head in the direction that will take you into blessing and fulfillment!

Chasing The Heart!

Chase It - You Might Catch It!

In the Bible we find that King David was a somebody even when everyone else thought he was a nobody.  As I read through his life, both the failures and the successes, I cannot help but notice that he has a huge passion – a passion for things of this world and at the same time a passion for God.  Often these are in conflict with one another and this gets David into trouble.   The good news is that this trouble ultimately always ends up bringing David back to where he needs to be.

David is described in Acts 13:22 in this way:  “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after Mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.”  This is God talking about David.  Only God knows the inside of a man’s heart, but know this for sure:  God knows and it matters!

David chased after the heart of God.  I can relate!  I don’t always feel like I’ve got God’s heart, but I know that I am I chasing after it.  I sometimes head in the wrong direction, but I ultimately turn and head back, because there is nothing in this world that can be compared to the heart of God.  David so wanted the heart of God that he would often run off half cocked and do something totally crazy, that would get him in a big ol mess, but the big mess eventually took him even closer to God and the things of God.

I think I might be beginning to understand what Paul was saying, when he said:  “The things I want to do, I don’t and the things I don’t want to do, I do!”  I don’t always do what is right, but I want to!  I sometimes do wrong and I don’t want to!  This is why I am thankful that God loves me and gives me His amazing grace.

Another thing Paul said that I think I am just beginning to understand is:  “Not that I have already obtained all of this, but this one thing I do, forgetting what is behind, I press toward the mark for the prize of the High Calling of Christ Jesus.”  I have not got there yet, I still have a long way to go, but I love God and I am chasing His heart and I am thankful that He let’s me catch up every now and then.  G3!
