Welcome, friend—I’m glad you’ve pulled up a chair on the front porch of my little corner of the internet. My name is Michael Joe Harvell, and I live my life with one simple mission: to glorify God, encourage people, and leave this world a little better than I found it. I’m a husband, father, pastor, writer, Jeep enthusiast, and front-porch thinker who believes that life is best lived on purpose. I serve as pastor of Eureka Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina, where I get the joy of preaching, teaching, and walking with people through the ups and downs of everyday life. Over the years, I’ve discovered that faith isn’t just about Sunday mornings—it’s about living every single day in the presence and power of God. I’m also an author. My books—including The Grace Exchange: How Forgiven People Forgive People and The Word Works—grow out of the sermons, stories, and lessons I’ve learned on this journey. I write in a style that’s conversational, a little front-porch-rocking-chair, and full of stories, quotes, and Scripture that point us back to the goodness of God’s Word. When I’m not writing or preaching, you might find me sitting outside with my Bible and journal, cruising the backroads in my Jeep Gladiator, or sharing a meal and some laughs with the good folks God has put in my life. I love helping people find peace in their spirit, strength in their body, and encouragement in their soul. This blog is simply an extension of that mission. Here you’ll find devotions, encouragement, reflections, and practical insights for living a life of purpose, peace, and joy. So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a rocking chair, and stay awhile—I’d be honored to walk this road of faith with you.

Good Morning Mercy!

Good morning, Mercy! 🌅 A fresh start, a clean slate, and God’s love waiting to meet you right where you are. Step into today with grace, gratitude, and hope. 💛 #NewMercies #FreshStart

STAY HUNGRY, STAY FILLED!

There’s a special kind of hunger that only Heaven can satisfy. Jesus said “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

If your soul’s been growlin’ lately, this encouragement is for you! Let’s talk about what it means to crave more of God—and how He promises to satisfy every longing.

Watch, read, or listen. Be encouraged, and stay hungry for the good stuff!

Meekness Is Not Weakness!

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” – Matthew 5:5

Now let me tell you something beautiful, church family… Meekness is not weakness. It’s not about being a doormat or backing down. It’s about strength that’s been surrendered—power that’s been placed under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It’s the quiet confidence of someone who doesn’t have to prove anything because they know who they are in Jesus.

When Jesus said the meek will inherit the earth, He wasn’t talking about grabbing headlines or winning every argument. He was saying that those who walk humbly, live gently, and trust God fully are the ones who will walk in true Kingdom authority. That kind of life leaves a legacy.

Meekness is the farmer who works the land day after day with steady hands and a grateful heart. It’s the mama who bends low to teach her child about grace. It’s the believer who, when wronged, chooses mercy over revenge.

So today, friend, don’t confuse loud for strong. Don’t think you’ve got to push your way through to find blessing. Just walk humbly, speak kindly, love deeply… and let God take care of the rest.

Because in the end, the earth doesn’t go to the biggest voice… it goes to the quiet soul who knows where their strength truly comes from.

Stay strong. Stay surrendered. Be blessed.
