Welcome, friend—I’m glad you’ve pulled up a chair on the front porch of my little corner of the internet. My name is Michael Joe Harvell, and I live my life with one simple mission: to glorify God, encourage people, and leave this world a little better than I found it. I’m a husband, father, pastor, writer, Jeep enthusiast, and front-porch thinker who believes that life is best lived on purpose. I serve as pastor of Eureka Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina, where I get the joy of preaching, teaching, and walking with people through the ups and downs of everyday life. Over the years, I’ve discovered that faith isn’t just about Sunday mornings—it’s about living every single day in the presence and power of God. I’m also an author. My books—including The Grace Exchange: How Forgiven People Forgive People and The Word Works—grow out of the sermons, stories, and lessons I’ve learned on this journey. I write in a style that’s conversational, a little front-porch-rocking-chair, and full of stories, quotes, and Scripture that point us back to the goodness of God’s Word. When I’m not writing or preaching, you might find me sitting outside with my Bible and journal, cruising the backroads in my Jeep Gladiator, or sharing a meal and some laughs with the good folks God has put in my life. I love helping people find peace in their spirit, strength in their body, and encouragement in their soul. This blog is simply an extension of that mission. Here you’ll find devotions, encouragement, reflections, and practical insights for living a life of purpose, peace, and joy. So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a rocking chair, and stay awhile—I’d be honored to walk this road of faith with you.

The Secret To Stronger Faith!

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” -Romans 10:17 (KJV)

There is something powerful about the Word of God that goes beyond information. It brings transformation. Romans 10:17 reminds us that faith does not come from wishful thinking, positive vibes, or human effort alone. Faith comes by hearing… and hearing by the Word of God.

Faith grows when God’s Word is allowed to speak into our hearts. Every time you open your Bible, every time you hear a sermon, every time you listen to Scripture being read, something eternal is taking place. God is building confidence in your soul. He is strengthening your spirit. He is reminding you that what He has promised, He is able to perform.

Sometimes we struggle because we are listening to too many other voices. The news can create fear. Circumstances can create doubt. The opinions of others can create confusion. But the Word of God creates faith.

If your faith feels weak today, the answer is not to try harder — it is to hear more of God’s Word. Let His promises fill your mind. Let His truth settle your heart. Let His voice become louder than your fears.

Faith is not something you have to manufacture. It is something God grows within you as you stay connected to His Word.

Spend time in Scripture today. Listen carefully. God is speaking… and faith is growing.

Everlasting Life!

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” -John 5:24

There is something deeply comforting about knowing that God’s promises are not based on our performance, but on His faithfulness.

In John 5:24, Jesus gives us one of the most reassuring statements in all of Scripture. He tells us that the person who hears His Word and believes in the One who sent Him has everlasting life. Not might have… not could have… but has everlasting life.

That means eternal life is not something we are waiting on someday far away. It begins the very moment we place our faith in Christ. The moment we trust Him, everything changes. Our past no longer defines us. Our failures no longer condemn us. Our future is no longer uncertain.

Jesus says we have passed from death unto life.

Think about that. Not going to pass. Not hoping to pass. Have passed.

Because of Christ, the verdict over your life is no longer guilty. It is forgiven. It is redeemed. It is accepted.

The enemy may try to remind you of what you used to be, but Jesus reminds you of what you now are.

Alive in Him.

Secure in Him.

Loved by Him.

Today, rest in that promise. Walk in that confidence. Live in that freedom.

Life has already begun for those who believe… and it is a life that will never end. 🙏

You Can Make A Difference!

Matthew 28:19 says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”

These words were not spoken to preachers alone. They were spoken to everyday believers. Fishermen. Tax collectors. Ordinary people who had simply chosen to follow Jesus. And the same call still echoes today.

Sometimes we think sharing our faith means having all the answers, quoting long passages of Scripture, or standing behind a pulpit. But often, it is much simpler than that. It is living a life that points to Jesus. It is loving people when it would be easier not to. It is offering hope in a world that often feels heavy. It is quietly letting the light of Christ shine through our words, our actions, and our attitude.

You may not feel like an expert, but you have a story. You have experienced grace. You have felt forgiveness. You have known the peace that only God can give. And when you share what the Lord has done in your life, you are fulfilling this great calling.

Every conversation can become a seed. Every act of kindness can become a testimony. Every moment of faithfulness can point someone toward eternity.

You do not have to reach the whole world today. Just be faithful where you are. Speak kindly. Love genuinely. Live consistently.

When we simply walk with Jesus, people notice. And sometimes the most powerful sermon is not preached from a pulpit, but lived from a faithful life.

Go today with quiet confidence. God will use your life in ways you may never fully see this side of heaven.
