Never Alone!

I love country music and one of my favorite country music singers is Willie Nelson. One of my favorite songs that Willie sings is “You Were Always On My Mind!” in which he laments all the things he did not do that he should have done, but still wants to make it clear that the object of his desire was always on his mind. It’s a beautiful song and a beautiful thought.

It’s a thought that is reality for us with our Creator. We are always on the mind of God, because God is always with us. There is no where we can go to escape God’s presence and power. We may not sense that God is here, but that is usually because we are not looking or listening.

God is always at work in our lives and on our behalf. God invites us to join in that work of creation and manifest miracles for ourselves and others, if we are paying attention.

7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. Psalms 139:7-12

There is always something happening, life is a work in progress and the pieces are constantly moving and rearrangin themselves, so that God/Love may be revealed and life purpose fulfilled.

We live in a great big Universe and are a vital part of the divine tapestry that continually invites us into the soul work of growing in and with the blessing we were created for and that was created for us. God could never forget you, because you are the stuff of God – made in God’s image and endowed with supernatural power.

Open your eyes to God’s guidance. Open your ears to God’s direction. Open your heart to God’s blessings by remembering that we are all ONE, never separated, but always complete together and this is what we were created for…

Becoming Best Friends With Yourself!

Benjamin Franklin said: “A true friend is the best possession.” You can have a bank account full of money, live in the biggest house in the neighborhood, drive the newest, fanciest and coolest car, dress in the finest styles and still be lonely, miserable and frustrated with life. On the other hand, you can live in a one room shack, with little to no money, walk everywhere you go, wear the same clothes every day and be connected, happy and fulfilled in life if you have just one good friend.

Someone said: “To have a friend, you have to be a friend!” And that is some excellent and very true advice. I want to take it a step further today and say: “To be a friend to others, you first have to be a friend to yourself.” If you want others to love you, accept you and walk with you, then you have got to love yourself, accept yourself and be willing to walk with yourself wherever “yourself” may be taking you.

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” -John 15:12-13

Live life long enough and we will face rejection. Rejection hurts and is not fun at all, but if we pay close attention when rejection comes our way, we will realize that it often starts with us. So many times, we waste away our lives and living waiting on someone, anyone to accept us, love us and be a friend with us, when we don’t even accept ourselves, love ourselves or be a friend with ourselves.

We need to acknowledge our weaknesses and learn from them, but we don’t need to allow them to keep us from being our very own best friend. After all, what is a good friend? A good friend is one, who accepts us, not matter how screwed up we may be. We cannot expect others to love and accept us, if we do not love and accept ourselves. So start a new friendship today with yourself. Love yourself like you have never been loved. Accept yourself by learning and growing from your mistakes and by appreciating and amplifying your successes.

When we begin to see the good in ourselves, then others will see it too. What we focus on gets the attention, so focus on what makes you a good friend by being a good friend to yourself …

Learning In The Dark!

In a lot of different ways, we are living in very dark times. People are scared, worried and frustrated. And the big temptation is to curse the darkness, but what good will that do? Cursing the darkness only breeds more negativity. Instead of cursing the darkness, maybe we should go running right into the middle of it? Why??? Because in the middle of the darkness, it is much easier to see the light and this is the very place that our tansformation begins to take place.

Think about the dark times of your life: You thought they were going to kill you, that you were not going to make it through, but you are still here, fighting the good fight. The reason why you are still here is because what you thought might be the end, was really the beginning of your transformation and growth into something more and better.

When we find ourselves in that deep, dark hole that we think there is no way out of, when the blows of life have knocked us flat on our backs and when it seems that all hope is lost, it is then that the miracle takes place. In the very midst of the darkness, which we hate so much, we begin to see a glimmer of light, we feel the encouragement of hope, which promises that this thing called life is not over just yet.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” -John 1:5

When we come face to face with the limits of what we can’t do, it is at this place that we begin to discover what God can do, will do and has done. The darkness is necessary to help us really appreciate and be grateful for the light. As we move from darkness to light, we make the amazing discovery that we are more than just flesh, we are SPIRIT, which makes us so much more than anything we will ever face.

When you find yourself in the dark, do not focus on the darkness, instead, begin to look for the light and in the process discover the amazing gift of transformation, growth, life in the Spirit and all that comes with it…
