If I Won The Lottery???

This is one of those things that I doubt would ever happen, because I don’t play the lottery, but it is still fun to think about. It’s kinda fun watching folks happen upon unexpected riches and then watch what they do and how they live, but I am not so sure that a bunch of money would change that much for me.

If I won the lottery, I would choose to live right where I am living today. The place we live is not just our house, it is our home. My Bride’s PaPa and MaMa built the house and there are reminders of them all around the place, inside and outside too. It’s not a big house, but it is big enough for us. My Bride always said that her dream house would be brick ranch style house with a circle driveway in front and that is exactly what we have. It’s very comfortable and there is land to work a garden right beside it. We might would upgrade a few things, like the barn and flower beds, but we are happy with our home, it’s comforts and the joy it brings our family.

If I won the lottery, I would continue to work and minister. I don’t really do either of those things for the money, because there are a lot of ways that I could make a lot more money. I do these things, because it’s what I am called and gifted to do and because this is where my joy comes from. I enjoy getting up early and going to bed tired. I love the opportunity to serve others. We live a pretty blessed life and have learned to be happy with what God has blessed us with.

If I won the lottery, I probably would buy a more reliable and comfortable vehicle. I mean if I had the money to splurge??? What would I buy? I really don’t have any idea, but it would be kinda fun trying to figure it out.

I’ve never had a lot of money and I don’t think a lot of money could buy me a life as happy and blessed as the life I am living. I don’t think money is a bad thing, in fact, I like having some to do with as I please, but my happiness if not dependent on it.

Life has a way of teaching you what really matters. A family and friends that you love and that love you back, a roof over your head, food to eat and a way to get from “a to b” and you are pretty much set for an amazing life, at least that’s what I think.

P.S. One more thing I thought about! If I won the lottery and had more money than I knew what to do with, then I would buy a place at Fripp Island, because it is one of my favorite escapes. I would want a place big enough that I could always bring family and friends to share it with, because I just can’t keep the good stuff to myself, the real joy and pleasure comes from sharing!!! 😎

My Most Proud Moments!

When I think back over my life and think about the moments I am most proud of, I think of many, but a few stand out and bring a smile to my face and joy to my heart.

The first one that came to mind was when I accepted Christ as my Savior and was baptized. I remember a Pastor’s class and him asking folks of all ages that had gathered how they felt in the moments after accepting and believing Christ was their Savior. He was going to skip me, because I was so young, but I waved my hand in the air, because I wanted to share with everyone and this was the beginning of real ministry for me.

The second proud moment for me was when I was ordained. To sit through that council, answer those questions, share my testimony and then have the men I had grown up admiring come and lay hands upon me and pray for me was one of the most proud and humbling moments of my life.

When I married my beautiful Bride Joy and when she gave birth to our two beautiful daughters had to rank up there as proud moments. Words cannot even come close to describing how I felt in those moments.

Each church I have been called to minister at have been proud moments for me. For a group of people to entrust their lives into your hands and ministry is such a great blessing and not for the faint of heart.

Just knowing that I have had an impact on making someone’s life a little better is one of those things that makes me proud. I have been blessed with many moments that I was proud, but looking back I have to acknowledge it wasn’t me, but Christ in me that made it all possible, each and every time. G3! = Give God Glory!

3 Personality Traits I’m Proud Of…

This month I’m working my way through different writing prompts. All of the prompts are designed to make me think about who I am and share that so that my readers may get to know me better. Today’s prompt challenged me to think about my personality and the traits that make me the unique me that I am.

This was not easy at first, because I had to figure out the difference between personality and emotions. I tend to think of my personality at the emotions I am feeling at the time, but personality is more about who you are most of the time, regardless of emotions.

“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well…” -Psalms 139:14

The three personality traits I am proud of is my spirituality, positivness and thinking. These three are the main part of who I am and come closer than anything that I can think of in expressing the real me.

I AM SPIRITUAL! This is really the foundation or my personality. Everything is planted and grows out of this part of my life. One of my favorite teachers used to say: “We spend most of our lives living as human beings looking to have a spiritual experience, when in reality we are spiritual beings getting to have a human experience.” I believe this is true and I work very intentionally to pay attention and tap into the reality that I am a spiritual being getting to have a human experience. This influences every other part of my life and more than anything else makes me the person that I am.

I AM POSITIVE! I have always tried to be positve, but it is a hard thing to maintain in such a negative world. We are surrounded by negativity and it is often attacking on all levels and from every angle. At some point in my life, I made the choice to choose positive over negative. That is basically our choice: We can live a positve life or a negative life and no one gets to decide for us. Each of us, have to decide for ourselves. I choose positve and it pays off for me everyday. The other benefit is the blessings it brings into my life, are blessings I can share with others.

I AM THINKING! I think all the time. I look at things from the inside – out and from the outside – in. For some folks, thinking can be a dangerous thing, but for me, I like to see things and figure out what is true and what is false.
