Welcome, friend—I’m glad you’ve pulled up a chair on the front porch of my little corner of the internet. My name is Michael Joe Harvell, and I live my life with one simple mission: to glorify God, encourage people, and leave this world a little better than I found it. I’m a husband, father, pastor, writer, Jeep enthusiast, and front-porch thinker who believes that life is best lived on purpose. I serve as pastor of Eureka Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina, where I get the joy of preaching, teaching, and walking with people through the ups and downs of everyday life. Over the years, I’ve discovered that faith isn’t just about Sunday mornings—it’s about living every single day in the presence and power of God. I’m also an author. My books—including The Grace Exchange: How Forgiven People Forgive People and The Word Works—grow out of the sermons, stories, and lessons I’ve learned on this journey. I write in a style that’s conversational, a little front-porch-rocking-chair, and full of stories, quotes, and Scripture that point us back to the goodness of God’s Word. When I’m not writing or preaching, you might find me sitting outside with my Bible and journal, cruising the backroads in my Jeep Gladiator, or sharing a meal and some laughs with the good folks God has put in my life. I love helping people find peace in their spirit, strength in their body, and encouragement in their soul. This blog is simply an extension of that mission. Here you’ll find devotions, encouragement, reflections, and practical insights for living a life of purpose, peace, and joy. So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a rocking chair, and stay awhile—I’d be honored to walk this road of faith with you.

FAITH!

The Bible says that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen!  We mess faith up when we put it in a person or thing that it was never intended to be placed in.  Faith was created by God and for God!  We need to put our faith in God, His power and His will!  I believe in people and I, often times believe in them so much, that I put my faith in them – the problem is this:  When I put my faith in people, I take away from my faith in God!  I need to keep my faith, all of it – in God!  Every time that I put my faith in people, I am let down and disappointed.  I am expecting way to much!

We need to love people, walk with people and grow in life together with people, but we need to keep our Faith in God and His will for our lives!  People will let you down, not because they mean to, just simply because they are people.  God will never let you down, and He will always be available to pick you up, if you will just have faith in Him!  Trust God and He will provide the faith that you need to keep trusting Him every moment of every day!

Tomorrow Is Sunday!

Northwood Snowman!
Northwood Snowman!

Tomorrow is going to be an awesome day and you do not want to miss it!  God has been teaching us some amazing things over the past few months about our growing to become who and what He has called us to be!  You can be re-awakened to the greatness of God and experience radical and powerful change in your life!

Tomorrow God will remind us of THREE THINGS THAT WE MUST NOT FORGET!  These three things – when remembered will allow us to face whatever life has to throw at us and be stronger because of it!  It is amazing how the most simple truths can have the most profound impact on and in our lives!  You do not want to miss this!

We will also learn how to apply and live in the power of John 15:7-8.  God created you to bear fruit and when you bear fruit, you find and experience amazing fulfillment and satisfaction!  The real secret of a successful Christian life is not really a secret at all!  The secret is learning to ABIDE.  It is not as hard or as difficult as you might think – you can and will,  if you want to, so join me tomorrow and God will teach us something!  Hope to see you at NORTHWOOD – it’s going to be AWESOME!

Practice Friendliness Today!

Take some time and make an effort to be friendly today!  Smile and make people think that you are up to something!  Say hello and wake people up!  You will cross paths with many different people today – make sure that you do more than cross paths!  Make a connection!  With your smile and hello you may just remind them that there is a God of LOVE and that He cares for all of us!

If each one of us would do just our little bit, it would be amazing what could be accomplished for the Kingdom!  Look at me – I am smiling at you!  Smile back!  Now doesn’t that make you feel better!  Have a blessed day!
