“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” -2 Peter 3:9

God is not slow.

He is not behind schedule.

He is not distracted.

He is not forgetting you.

The verse says He is longsuffering. That means patient on purpose.

There are moments when we look at the world and think, “Lord, why are You waiting?”

Why hasn’t justice come?

Why hasn’t revival broken out?

Why hasn’t my prayer been answered?

But 2 Peter tells us something beautiful: what looks like delay is actually mercy.

God waits because He loves.

He tarries because He is giving people time.

Time to turn around.

Time to come home.

Time to repent.

Aren’t you grateful He waited on you?

If He had closed the door too soon, where would we be? If He had judged too quickly, who among us would stand?

His patience is not weakness.

His delay is not neglect.

His mercy is an invitation.

So if you are waiting today, trust His heart.

If you are praying for someone far from God, keep praying.

Every sunrise is proof that God is still giving grace.

And if you have not yet surrendered fully to Him, do not mistake His patience for permission. It is mercy knocking at your door.

God keeps His promises.

He just refuses to give up on people.

And that, my friend, includes you.

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” -Proverbs 18:24

Can I give you a front porch thought this morning?

We live in a world with hundreds of followers and very few friends. We can scroll for hours and still feel alone. But Solomon reminds us that friendship is not accidental. It is intentional.

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly.”

If you want friends, be one.

If you want encouragement, give it.

If you want loyalty, practice it.

Friendship is not found by demanding it. It is formed by demonstrating it.

But then Solomon lifts our eyes higher.

“And there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”

That is more than a good hunting buddy.

That is more than a lifelong neighbor.

That is Jesus.

When others walk out, He walks in.

When you fail, He stays faithful.

When you feel misunderstood, He knows every thought before you speak it.

Some friendships are seasonal. Some are special.

But Jesus is steadfast.

So today, be the kind of friend you hope to have.

Send the text. Make the call. Sit at the table. Show up.

And never forget, no matter how lonely the road feels, you are never walking it alone.

There is a Friend who sticks closer than a brother.
