And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.” — Judges 6:12 (KJV)
You ever notice how God calls you something long before you ever feel like it? Gideon was hiding from his enemies when God called him a mighty man of valor.
That’s a funny picture — a man in a winepress, ducking for cover, being called a warrior. But that’s exactly how God works. He doesn’t speak to where you are; He speaks to where you’re going.
Sometimes life makes you feel small — like you’re not enough, not ready, or not qualified. But the moment God steps into your story, He calls out the strength you didn’t even know was in you.
Gideon didn’t become mighty because he suddenly got brave — he became mighty because God reminded him, “I’m with you.”
So whatever battle you’re facing today, remember this: you’re not fighting alone. You’re not forgotten. And you’re not finished.
The same God who found Gideon in the hiding place can find you right where you are and turn your fear into faith, your weakness into weapon, and your worry into worship.
Lean into His Word today — and let Him remind you who you really are: a mighty man or woman of valor.
Reflection: What would change in your life today if you believed what God calls you more than what fear whispers to you?
