Friend, James 5:16 says, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” That’s not just a pretty phrase—it’s a promise. Prayer isn’t throwing words up into the sky, hoping something sticks. Prayer is calling on the God of heaven who hears, who cares, and who moves when His children cry out.
Now notice those two words: effectual and fervent. That means prayer that works and prayer that burns. It’s not casual, distracted mumbling—it’s prayer that comes from the heart, soaked in faith, fueled by persistence, and anchored in God’s Word.
Maybe today you feel powerless, but prayer plugs you into God’s power. Maybe you feel unheard, but prayer reminds you that heaven’s ear is bent toward you. Maybe you feel stuck, but prayer is the key that unlocks chains.
So don’t give up. Don’t let your knees grow weary. The devil trembles when God’s people pray. Friend, if you’ve got a burden today, take it straight to Jesus—because the Bible says it still works, and it still changes things.
