“Love suffers long, and is kind…”
That’s how Paul starts his beautiful description in 1 Corinthians 13:4. And right off the bat, it hits us right in the heart, doesn’t it?
Love suffers long. That’s not the kind of love the world talks about. The world tells us love is a feeling—romantic, exciting, and easy. But the Word of God tells us that real love—the God-kind of love—is patient. It waits. It endures. It sticks around when things get hard, and it holds on when everyone else lets go.
And not only is it patient—it’s kind. It doesn’t get bitter in the waiting. It doesn’t grow hard while enduring. It stays soft. It stays gentle. It keeps giving even when it doesn’t get anything in return.
Now that’s not natural love. That’s supernatural love. That’s the kind of love God has for you. That’s the kind of love He pours into us through His Spirit. That’s the kind of love He’s calling us to show.
So today…
Let’s slow down.
Let’s be patient.
Let’s be kind.
Let’s love somebody like Jesus loves us.
Because when we love like that, we’re not just obeying a verse—we’re revealing the heart of God.
