Forgive, Let Go And Be Free!

I know it is probably hard for you to believe, but I have had a few folks in my life that have done me wrong. Live long enough and you will be lied to, taken advantage of and possibly left on the side of the road of life with nothing to show for any of it, but a demolished heart and a broken spirit. Most all of us have people in our life, who have done us wrong and really don’t deserve our forgiveness, but forgiveness is not just about the other person it is also about you and me.

People will come and go in your life. If you are blessed and you are, then some of them will stay and be a great asset and blessing. Some will leave, take parts of you with them and it will hurt more than words could ever describe. Not everyone you meet is going to be kind to you. Not everyone is interested in what you think or how you feel. Some of the very people you bless with mercy and grace, will turn around and slap you with pnishment and judgement, but you will survive and if you can learn to forgive, you will ultimatly thrive.

“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave I to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord. To the contrary, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” -Romans 12:18-21

Live life long enough and you will experience betrayal and it will devestate you, but I can promise you that it is not the end of your life. It will end up being an opportunity to learn and grow. And how do we grow from the things that hurt us so deeply? We practice forgiveness! I said practice, because if we want to get good at something, then we have to practice. When we forgive, we let it go and it probably benefits us more than it does the person we are forgiving, because it sets us free from all the negativity that has been eating away at us.

To forgive does not mean that you approve of what happened, it just means that you are a big enough person to learn from it and grow into the Spirit, God created you to be. It is the realization that there are things in your life, that are not for you to fix, but for you to release to your Creator, so that God might show you faithfulness.

Forgive those who have wronged you, look for their innocence and in the process you will discover your own and experience a freedom unlike anything you’ve ever dreamed of…

What The World Could Use A Lot More Of…

”Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6

With all the craziness going on in our world today, it often gets me to thinking: What really matters and what is worth fighting for? Here are a few of the things I think the world could use a lot more of and so, I am going to do my part to take and make my stand on these, believing they are a part of our Divine birthright.

WISDOM – It is available all around us, but now a days, you often have to do a little work to unearth it and put it into application. We can find it in the sacred spiritual texts and many great men and women through the years have voiced bits and pieces to help us understand what is really important in the living of this thing called life. I think one of the greatest enemies of wisdom is distraction. We don’t see it, hear it or feel it, so we miss out on it’s power to raise us to a higher and better place.

TRUTH – Believe it or not, there is a truth and it does matter. We live in a world that likes to make up it’s own truth, which is often a lie, desguised as truth to try to make us feel better. Sometimes the truth hurts, but there is healing for the hurt and growth in the truth, whcih is why it is so necessary. Much of our truth flows out of the wisdom of the ages,, so pay attention, because it is all around us.

FORGIVENESS – It is a beautiful thing to be forgiven and it is a beautiful thing to share that forgivness with others. We all do things that we should not do and fail to do things we should. Our Creator forgives us and we should forgive ourselves and then pass this amazing gift on. The beautiful thing about forgiveness is that it is a gift that blesses in both directions.

PEACE – It’s hard to describe with words, but when you find yourself right in th middle of chaos, but have the calm inward assurance that everything is going to be okay – this is peace and it is an amazing thing. In this world today, we need it more than ever. The good news is: Wisdom tells us it’s there, truth helps us to claim it and forgiveness opens our heart to receive it, so that love can flow.

LOVE – God is love! Love is so much more than just a word. It is God in us and through us. We receive it, but we don’t just hold onto it, we are transformed by it and then we pass it on to others, which grows our capacity to be open to more and more, so that we can share it in even greater ways, because in the sharing – God is glorified and man is blessed…
