Learning In The Dark!

In a lot of different ways, we are living in very dark times. People are scared, worried and frustrated. And the big temptation is to curse the darkness, but what good will that do? Cursing the darkness only breeds more negativity. Instead of cursing the darkness, maybe we should go running right into the middle of it? Why??? Because in the middle of the darkness, it is much easier to see the light and this is the very place that our tansformation begins to take place.

Think about the dark times of your life: You thought they were going to kill you, that you were not going to make it through, but you are still here, fighting the good fight. The reason why you are still here is because what you thought might be the end, was really the beginning of your transformation and growth into something more and better.

When we find ourselves in that deep, dark hole that we think there is no way out of, when the blows of life have knocked us flat on our backs and when it seems that all hope is lost, it is then that the miracle takes place. In the very midst of the darkness, which we hate so much, we begin to see a glimmer of light, we feel the encouragement of hope, which promises that this thing called life is not over just yet.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” -John 1:5

When we come face to face with the limits of what we can’t do, it is at this place that we begin to discover what God can do, will do and has done. The darkness is necessary to help us really appreciate and be grateful for the light. As we move from darkness to light, we make the amazing discovery that we are more than just flesh, we are SPIRIT, which makes us so much more than anything we will ever face.

When you find yourself in the dark, do not focus on the darkness, instead, begin to look for the light and in the process discover the amazing gift of transformation, growth, life in the Spirit and all that comes with it…

The Next Best Thing!

Life has this incredible way of offering us unlimited opportunities if we will get out of the blindness of our procrastination, open our spiritual eyes and see all that God and His Universe has to offer us.

This year, my younder daughter and I planted some corn. We plowed the ground, dug the holes, planted the tiny kernal of corn, watered it and waitied for nature to do her thing. Before long the seed turned into a blade and broke through the ground looking for the sun up above. Through the days and nights, it grew into a stalk and eventually the stalk grew ears, which we eventually picked off, shucked and silked to reveal a cob full of corn kernals. My daughter proclaimed: “I can’t believe that all of that came from that little kernal (seed) of corn that we planted in the ground???”

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” -Galatians 6:7-9

This is the way life works! Life is designed so that when it is working the way it is supposed to, it is always creating more of itself. Stop and let that thought sink in. God has created the Universe, so that it is always looking for ways to recreate and heal itself, by setting up opportunities for us to love and be loved.

It does not matter what mistakes you may have made in the past, because the present is always a new beginning with the possibilitiy of something better. Our Creator has arranged time, so that we may learn from the past and grow in the present as we live and love into the future.

The best way I know to make sure that we don’t miss it is by opening ourselves to God’s unconditional love and allowing it to flow into and through our lives, so that we then might be able to share it with others. Let the love flow and see how creation takes care of itself by offering you more than you can dream or imagine…

Loving With All You Got!

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” -Matthew 22:37

To grow my heart, mind and soul is the goal. I want a bigger heart, a more open mind and a soul that freely flows through the vallies and mountain tops of life.

My prayer is that my heart might grow to include others, no matter who they are or where they come from in the circle of love that blesses me everyday. I pray that my mind may always be open to grow and learn new things from all the walks of life. I pray that my soul may know itself in a more intimate way that allows me to truly be in touch with all that I am.

May my heart not become hard, but grow soft as it seeks to becoe fertile soul for the seeds of love planted by my Creator. May my mind not become closed and dark, but open and filled with the light of wisdom that flows from on high. And may my soul not become enslaved to the waeriness that becomes an end to so many, but may it break the chains that seek to hold it in bondage and fly free to experience all it was created for.

Thoughts are very powerful things and when my heart, mind and sould are right, my thoughts have the power to create a life that cannot be explained. A growing heart, open mind and free soul empowers a life to be lived to it’s fullest and makes every moment a treasure.

As I am loved, may I also love with all of myself – heart, mind and soul…
