Feeler Or Doer?

Are you a feeler or a doer?

Feelers feel their way into action or inaction!  Feelers are the people that only do what they need to do, when they feel like it!  A feeler feels their way into doing!  If they don’t feel it, they don’t do it!  If it makes sense and they feel like it, then they do it!  If it is convenient and they feel like it, then they do it!  If it is easy and they feel like it, then they will do it!

The bottom line:  If a feeler does not feel like it, then it will not get done!  If a feeler does not feel like exercising, they will think about it, but never do it!  A feeler will admit the need to spend time in God’s Word, but if they don’t feel like it, then the pages of their Bible will not even be opened up!  A feelers ability to make decisions is directly related to how he or she is feeling right now in this moment.  A feeler is interested in the short term emotional fulfillment that provides almost immediate gratification.  The real problem for a feeler comes in the long term consequences of having this short term attitude!

There is nothing wrong with feelings, but we cannot allow them to be the driving force behind who we are and what we do!  If you rely totally on yourfeelings, before you know it, you will find your character is diminishing, your convictions are failing and your spirit is growing immature!

Doers don’t feel their way into action – they act their way into feeling!  Doers determine what needs to be done based on the goals and gifts that God has given and then they act!  They don’t have to over-think about it!  They don’t have to have every ones opinion and approval!  They don’t have to be on an emotional high to get going in the right direction!  Doers have long term goals that are bigger than any short term satisfaction.  Becoming a doer is not easy, but it is also not impossible!

If you are going to become a doer, then you must decide that you are going to be a doer over a feeler!  It is a natural instinct to feel our way through a situation!  To not be a feeler motivated person, you must make a determined decision!  Realize that living according to feeling, while seemingly safe, is really robbing you of blessing and success!

Asking and and answering the “WHAT REALLY MATTERS? question requires that you become a doer!  Because, if it really matters, then we must do it – whatever it is that God is putting before us!  What is it that God wants to do in your life?  What is it that God wants to accomplish through your gifts and talents?  What really matters?  Work on becoming a doer today by taking on and taking out three things that would normally be a challenge!

Priorities!

One of the easiest things in life to get messed up is my priorities!  This month I am challenging everyone to ask the question:  WHAT REALLY MATTERS?  And I am challenging us to answer the question with insight from God and His Word!  Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A calls the big three priorities of life:  “Master, Mate and Mission!”

MASTER!  Who or what is the master of your life?  We know Who it should be, but we don’t always allow Him to stay in His rightful place!  Take some time today to allow God to step into the head place of your heart and life!  You will be glad that you did!

MATE!  God has placed you in a family!  Your family should bless you and you should bless your family!  Don’t wait for them to get it right – you start right now to serve them in any and every way that you can – it will blow their minds and open their hearts, and grow you in the process!

MISSION!  God loves you and has an amazing plan for your life!  When you start to live according to His plan – it will amaze you at what God can do to and through you!

WHAT REALLY MATTERS?  Probably not what you first thought!

A Different Perspective!

A lot of people view the Bible as just a bunch of rules that exist to keep me from having a good time!  I think that people get this idea, not from reading the Bible, but from listening and living with people that have read and applied it incorrectly!  Many people that call themselves Christians read the Bible and apply it’s truths to everyone else!  They incorrectly use the Bible to judge others and often miss the opportunity to grow themselves!  The people who are experiencing success and growth in life are the people who have taken the time through the Word to figure out who God wants them to become and what God wants them to do!  They have learned to use God’s Word as a guide that helps them to travel in the right direction!

If you want to truly be successful in every area of your life, then you must learn how to consistently apply God’s Word in your everyday living!  You life will always be full of uncontrollable circumstances, seemingly impossible situations and unlimited opportunities to make excuses!  But, do no give in!  Don’t blame your lack of achievement on bad luck or bad upbringing.  Whatever is going on in your life has a purpose and it is ultimately to make you stronger for God’s glory and everyones blessing!

Take some time this week to get into God’s Word – The Bible!  Read it with fresh eyes, not looking for how it applies to others, but for what it has to say to you and the situations of your life!  God has some amazing things that He wants to show you and teach you!  Enjoy the journey!
